Our story began back in 2019 when Rosabel, a bride-to-be was looking online for a cake maker for her wedding cake. Annie, who had left her previous job as a Graphic Designer for Blunt Umbrellas had just established her own sugar art studio called Annie’s Little Valley in pursuit of her passion for sugarcraft. Rosabel approached Annie after coming across her work on Instagram. Needless to say, literal sparks flew when the two creatives met for the first time as they chatted about their mutual love for art and their dreams of being able to do it full time.
In February 2020, Annie held her very first sugar art workshop and with no surprise, Rosabel was one of her students. During the course of the two-day workshop, Rosabel and Annie connected through their interest and passion for art as well as their aspirations as emerging artists in their own fields.
Later that year, Rosabel made a life-changing decision to quit her job at the Council and focus on her own art studio, Rosemay Studio. During this process, Rosabel met up with Annie and shared with her the vision of starting her own studio as well as the struggles of finding the right direction and the lack of support and guidance.
Coincidentally, Annie who was in the process of growing Annie’s Little Valley into an art centre had been praying for someone who shared the same vision to join her team. Hearing Rosabel shares the challenges she was going through made Annie question and realise that there must be countless aspiring artists out there in the same situation.
It was then Annie decided to use the resources acquired under Annie’s Little Valley to assist other aspiring artists along their creative journey by giving them a platform to explore their passions and share their creations. This vision led to the birth of The Art Valley.

OUR VISION
Before we talked about our vision, we wanted to share what we believe art is.
According to Lumen Learning “art is a highly diverse range of human activities engaged in creating visual, auditory, or performed artifacts— artworks—that express the author’s imaginative or technical skill, and are intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.”
“Though the definition of what constitutes art is disputed and has changed over time, general descriptions centre on the idea of imaginative or technical skill stemming from human agency and creation. When it comes to visually identifying a work of art, there is no single set of values or aesthetic traits.”
Often when people think of art they think of a piece of work produced by a professional or full time artist. However, at TAV, we believe that everyone is an artist. We believe that everyone has a deep need and fundamental ability to be creative and to create. Whatever your current role is whether you are a mother, business manager, an athlete, an uber driver or a politician, you are also an artist because you too have the innate desire and ability to create.
The Art Valley’s (TAV) dream is not only to build an art centre that facilitates art exploration through workshops and programmes but also a platform that is able help our local creatives and emerging artists on their creative journey through the sharing of resources and the provision of a medium to showcase their works. Whether you are a person with or without a background in art, an amateur artist who is looking for an opportunity to showcase yourself, or an artist who has a desire to pass on their skills to others, we welcome you to get in touch with us.
